2010 Entry Instructions
What’s In It For Artists
- Up to $10,000 in cash and prizes
- Month-long show in Charlotte (Oct 2010) to show/sell work (if selected by new juror)
- Year-long touring exhibition around Carolinas to show/sell work (if selected by new juror)
- CGA! Salon Show – a second exhibition for work not selected for the CGA! show (if selected by gallery owner)
Eligibility/Requirements (Fill Out Form Online Below)
- ENTRY DEADLINE: 8/30/10
- Eligibility: The competition is open to artists, professional or amateur, who reside in North or South Carolina.
- Age: Artists must be over the age of eighteen.
- Entries: Up to three (3) pieces of original artwork may be submitted on the entry form.
- Eligible Work: Our goal is not to define what “makes” art but to offer artists an opportunity to present original creations to be presented to the 2010 juror, Mario Naves, for consideration. The exhibition is designed to reflect the vast array of artistic talent in the Carolinas. All work must be original and created within the past two years and not previously shown within this competition. All work must be “exhibition ready” and available for sale. Elder Gallery reserves the right to refuse any submission that it deems unacceptable for the exhibition.
- Size limitations: No wall-hung pieces over 72″ x 72″ in dimensions; sculpture must not exceed 6 feet x 3 feet x 3 feet and must be installed by the artist.
- Commission: All work must be available for sale and a 40% commission fee will be taken on all work sold.
- Traveling Exhibition: We hope to establish a traveling show component this year wherein selected work will be scheduled to be exhibited in cities around NC and SC. You will be asked to accept or decline eligibility in the traveling show in the form below.
- Submitting images: Must be in JPEG format, 500Kb or lower file size are preferred – please label each image with your name and title of the piece and do not use ~”!@#$%^&*()?><’~ etc. in the file names (i.e. Good = JohnSmith-Flowers1.jpg, Bad = Sunflower#2.jpb). An acknowledgement of receipt of entry will be sent via email only. CDs with images may also be submitted to: CGA! c/o Elder Gallery, 1427 South Blvd. Suite 101, Charlotte, NC 28203 – post marked no later than 8/30. Make sure your CD is clearly labeled with your contact information. CDs will not be returned.
- Agreement of Terms: Artists must accept terms of an Agreement for Exhibition document shown below. Your submission into the competition will indicate your automatic agreement to the terms.
- Entry Fee: $35.00 is required at time of submission. Payment can be made via PayPal or via check or money order (to Carolina’s Got Art). To use PayPal, click on the “Pay Now” button below or on subsequent “Thank You” page (an automated response email will also be sent following submission). At PayPal’s website, enter your credit card info and submit your payment. If a third party pays your entry fee, notify us at info@carolinasgotart.com of the name/email of the payer or your entry may be disqualified for non-payment. If paying by check, make payable to “Carolina’s Got Art” within 48 hours.
- Notification: Acceptance/rejection notification will be sent via email to all entrants by September 15, 2010.
- Accepted Artwork: All accepted work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (canvas stretches around the stretcher frame to create a clean, professional appearance), and wired for hanging. No exceptions will be made! Failure to present work in this fashion can mean disqualification. Accepted artwork must have the following info attached directly to the artwork: Title, Medium, Artist Name, address, phone, email address, and retail price. Accepted work must be delivered to Atherton Mill (2000 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC) on 9/17, 9/18 or 9/20 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Agreement for Exhibition Form
By submitting the Entry Form, Artist grants Elder Gallery the right to include artwork listed on the Entry Form into,Carolina’s Got Art!,and agrees to abide by the terms and conditions contained in the “Entry Instructions” section of the exhibition’s website. Artist warrants full ownership of submitted artwork and allows Elder Gallery full rights to use images of work in promotion of the exhibition. Acceptance of terms does not guarantee selection into the exhibition. All professional efforts will be given to ensure the safety and well-being of all artwork accepted into the exhibition. Elder Gallery accepts no responsibility for damage and/or loss of artwork and reserves the right to cancel event if sufficient entries are not received. In case of cancellation all entry fees will be refunded.
